40 million people have died from HIV/AIDS related illness over the last 3 decades.

This statistic was revealed by Salorne MacDonald, a member of the National AIDS Coordinating Committee as he reiterated the importance of commemorating World AIDS day.

Speaking on Boom Champions 94.1 FM, Mr MacDonald explained that the day is commemorated in an attempt to always keep people informed of the fight against the disease.

He noted that in addition to this year’s theme of “Know Your Status”, which encourages people to get tested, there are also other global goals which authorities are working towards.
