The Office of the Attorney General have filed a notice of discontinuance into the multi-million-dollar lawsuit by the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) against its former president Prof Ken Julien and five other former directors.
The notice of discontinuance was filed yesterday at the Port of Spain Hall of Justice by Attorney General Garvin Nicholas.
Mr Nicholas said he took the decision to discontinue because the witness statement was insufficient to proceed to a successful conclusion
Mr Nicholas said while the decision to discontinue will cost the state, its better than continuing and incurring further cost.
Mr Nicholas said the state initially believed it had a solid case to contest but that changed with the witness changing her statement.
