The Oilfield Workers Trade Union is calling for the removal of the Minister of Energy Kevin Ramnarine and the entire Board of Directors at the National Gas Company (NGC). According to the Union, the vice-president of Human and Corporate Relations Cassandra Patrovani-Sylvester, was used as a scape goat and the Minister of Energy and Energy Affairs was not being held to account.
In a release issued this morning the OWTU stated it believed that Mr. Ramnarine was ultimately responsible since Mr. Indar Maharaj, the President of NGC could not have acted without the knowledge, support and authorization of the Minister of Energy and Energy Affairs who reports directly to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet.
The OWTU said that it was appalled that the Minister was still in office and Mr. Maharaj was allowed to continue working as President of NGC. The released stated that the OWTU was not surprised that NGC’s communications budget ballooned from $67 million to $200 million as the UNC led by the Prime Minister is preparing for 2015 General Elections.
The OWTU claimed that it dismissed and rejected the three-member committee investigation which was recently appointed by the Energy and Energy Affairs Minister, Kevin Ramnarine, and viewed it as nothing more than a sham.
