Opposition Leader, Dr. Keith Rowley speaking at the Office of the Prime Minister during the meeting of the Standing Finance Committee this afternoon, questioned the finance minister’s move to provide further financing to State Owned Caribbean Airlines, in 2015.
Dr. Rowley outlined figures provided over the past few years which noted that Caribbean Airlines received support to the tune of 1.8 billion dollars.
He went on to question Minister Larry Howai on a .7 billion allocation that has been made for the airline.
In response, Minister Howai said it would take three years to bring Caribbean Airlines to its feet.
He pointed to the fuel subsidies that were offered to the airline, as he sought to clarify the expenditure.
