In what seems as an apparent threat to the Government, Opposition Leader, Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar is sending a warning to government by saying, if no respect is given to the opposition’s views, then no votes for any bill in the Parliament.
Speaking at the United National Congress Monday Night Forum held last night in Chaguanas, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar, referring to the outcome of the crime meeting held with the Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley, said the Government needs the opposition to function and run the country and has made it clear that without clear consideration from the opposition, the Government will not get their support.
The Siparia Member of Parliament pointing to a number of the PNM’s manifesto promises said 50 of those pledges were not delivered.
One main item the Opposition Leader highlighted was the issue of crime and alluding to a figure of 500 as opposed to a figure of 288 when the People’s Partnership was in Government.
Opposition Leader, Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar praised her government for their effective work with dealing with crime.
