President of the Police Social and Welfare Association Michael Seales today says the situation involving the request for resignation of two senior police officers, by the Acting Policer Commissioner, is being closely observed.
Earlier this week, news broke that Acting Police Commissioner, Stephen Williams had served letters requesting the resignation of Eastern Division Snr Supt John Trim and head of the Inter-Agency Task Force Snr Supt Simbonath Rajkumar. The letters outlined their shortcomings in their divisions.
Today, in a News Power Now interview, Inspector Seales said the issue is a verey sensitive one but the opportunity must be given to those on the receiving end, to give their response.
He highlighted one major positive arising out of the situation. He said performance and the way the appraisal system that drives performance is implemented, has now come into sharp focus.
Meanwhile, former senior superintendent, Johnny Abraham told News Power Now that the Acting Commissioner’s job is a very tough one and he sees no one who can fill the position.
