On Saturday, Housing Minister Randall Mitchell announced that the HDC will distribute 1000 homes by
Christmas, some of them being derelict.
However the measure has been heavily criticised by the opposition United National Congress.
Speaking at a PNM public meeting in Five Rivers last night, Dr. Rowley blamed the past administration
for the condition of the units.
The prime minister called on citizens to ignore the claims of corruption being made by the UNC, while
citing an example of HDC neglect under the People’s Partnership Government.
Dr. Rowley’s statements came one day after UNC Senator Gerald Ramdeen leveled an accusation of
possible bid rigging in the HDC’s public private partnership programme.
This claim has since been dismissed by Housing Minister Randall Mitchell.
