Up to yesterday evening efforts were underway to resolve the impasse between the management and workers of the Public Transport Services Corporation.
Reports indicate that the PTSC and the Transport and Industrial Workers Union were locked in a meeting with Minister of Transport Steven Cadiz, at the Raddison Hotel in Port of Spain.The meeting started at 3 o’clock yesterday.
The workers have refused the offer of a 12 percent wage increase, however the PTSC have stated that it wants nothing less than 15 percent.The workers have also asked for better facilities at the bus depots.TIWU’s Vice President Marcus Grannum has said that the fight isn’t just about wages.He revealed that the bus drivers have other concerns as well.
However according to the Deputy General Manager – Marketing and Communications PTSC Carl Ramdeo, the hands of the Corporation are tied.
He also revealed that the Labor Minister was called in to resolve the matter.
