Tobago Gets Ebola Prepared

temaThe Tobago Emergency Management Agency is fine tuning various measures and systems to ensure the sister isle is prepared to address any threats posed by the deadly Ebola virus.

Officials say the Ebola outbreak has killed more than 4,500 people across West Africa, including 2,200 in Liberia.

They say in the worst-affected countries – Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone – about 9,000 people have been found to have the Ebola virus, which kills an estimated 70 percent of those infected.

TEMA Director, Allan Stewart, in a News Power interview on Monday afternoon, said consultations continue among key stakeholders on this serious development.

Mr. Stewart added that emphasis has been placed on training of medical personnel and first responders to deal with any eventuality.
