Tobago man charged for having sex with minors

NEWS GRAPHIC 4The father of a top Trinidad and Tobago cyclist will appear before the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court today to face six felony charges.

The prominent businessman was arrested on Saturday in the sister isle.

He was taken to the Scarborough Police Station where he was slapped with several charges including having sex with a female under the age of 14 years, three charges of having sex with a female between the age of 14 and 16 years, one indecent assault charge, and one charge of grievous sexual assault.
Police reports state that the alleged incidents occurred between 2011 and 2014 at two places in Scarborough—Castries Street and Whim—with the same victim.
This closely follows the arrest of former school Principal David Smith, who in February appeared in Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on 14 sex charges.
He was later placed on $400,000 bail.
