Acting Commissioner of Police, Stephen Williams, has dismissed claims that the police service is out gunned by criminals…
Last week a report in the Trinidad Express stated that the criminal underworld had access to several sophisticated weapons which police offers were unable obtain.
Commissioner Williams said the police have been working on taking guns off the street, but more work is needed to secure the country’s borders.
Meantime, on the issue of rogue officers, Mr. Williams noted that removing them from the service is not an easy task.
He said while he is aware of members of the TTPS having links to criminal elements, dismissing such individuals from the force would see an abundance of challenges in the courts.
