Doing business as usual with the United States regarding of which presidential candidate is elected…this is the position adopted by Trade and Industry Minister, Paula Gopee Scoon.
She made the comment while speaking with News Power Now in an interview this afternoon.
Minister Gopee Scoon said over the years this country has enjoyed a strong trade and diplomatic relationship with the U-S.
She added that the aim is to ensure this partnership continues.
The Trade Minister explained that there are encouraging trade agreements and arrangements in place with the U-S and she is confident this will be strengthened in the future.
Meantime Political analyst, Rishi Maharaj is warning that the outcome of the U-S Presidential Election could impact on the survival of Caribbean economies in terms of trade.
Mr. Maharaj explains that Donald Trump has demonstrated a tough stance on matters such as immigration while Hillary Clinton’s track record has displayed a softer and more sustainable approach.
Mr. Maharaj remains upbeat that the region can navigate its way through this critical period but it will require focus, will and wise management.
