Condemnation against what has been described as a tag team, comprised of Opposition Leader, Dr. Keith Rowley and leader of the Oilfield Workers Trade Union, Ancel Roget, is coming from the minister of Trade, Industry, Investment and Communication, Vasant Bharath.
The minister’s conviction against the duo came on Saturday, just one day after the debate on the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property (No.2) Bill, 2014. He said both Dr. Rowley and the trade union leader have, as their primary intention, the disruption of the peace, progress and stability of the lives of the people of this country.
The Opposition did not support the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property (No.2) Bill on Friday, this even as members, inclusive of Camille Robinson-Regis, Faris Al-Rawi, Dianne Baldeo-Chadeesingh and Shamfa Cudjoe, supported the bill earlier this year.
Separately, the minister lashed out at Mr. Roget, saying that , in the face of tens of billions of dollars of proven corruption at Petrotrin by the former PNM Government, the OWTU leader has locked arms with the PNM, pretending to fight corruption.
Minister Bharath is questioning the motives of the OWTU leader, asking how could one claim to be championing the rights of workers, when their every action is about plotting against the people and the Government of T&T.
