A call is coming from the trade union movement for greater effort from the state to protect the jobs of workers.
The Labor Ministry has revealed that over one thousand persons have been laid off in the private sector.
However, the government has indicated that it will do what is required to avoid job cuts in the public sector.
Recently trade unionists carried out a demonstration outside the Office of the Prime Minister, St Clair, to highlight their concern on the issue.
