Today the trade union movement celebrates International Workers’ Day commonly referred to as “May Day.”
International Workers’ Day is a celebration of labour and the working classes that is promoted by the international labour movement and occurs on May 1 every year.
Communication Workers Union President, John Julien said today the Joint Trade Union Movement will hold a special conference commemorating the day.
Mr. Julien stated that “May Day” is a special day for trade unionists who continue to struggle for improved working environments.
However, he added that Trinidad and Tobago is backward in relation to international standards associated with Labour Laws.
