Transport Minister Stephen Cadiz is this morning saying that the Maxi Taxi Association wants to take full control of the City Gate Facility. His words were uttered following action taken last week by maxi taxi operators in the Port of Spain area. Commuters were forced to exit the maxi taxis prematurely as the protesting transporters made their voices heard by choosing not to enter the hub. They argue that the city gate facility is poorly managed.
This morning, Minister Cadiz said City Gate has to be looked at in a much wider sense relative to the kind of service that must be provided. He said as such he does not want to enter into any kind of arrangement that would have to be changed in the future based on developmental plans created for the facility.
