A memorandum of understanding is signed between this country and Venezuela on energy matters.
The MOU clears the way for joint venture cooperation between both nations.
This is one of the areas agreed upon following diplomatic discussions between Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley and Venezuela’s President, Nicolas Maduro.
Speaking at a media briefing at the Diplomatic Center, St Ann’s this afternoon Prime Minister Rowley described the talks as productive and useful.
Dr. Rowley also confirmed that progress was made in the trade, security and issues relating to immigration.
The Prime Minister added that in the area of security follow-up talks between officials from both countries are scheduled to begin by month end.

Meanwhile, fruitful is how Venezuela’s President, Nicolas Maduro, describes his meeting with this country’s Prime Minister for a one -day visit today.
Speaking through an interpreter at a media conference held following the talks President Maduro said the agreements reached in energy matters was historic.
His Excellency also expressed delight over the commitment indicated to tackle drug trafficking.
President Maduro also called for the long standing partnership and cooperation enjoyed by both nations to continue.
