TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO OBSERVES WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY

World-autism-awareness-dayTrinidad and Tobago joins the rest of the world in today’s observance of World Autism Awareness Day.
Experts say Autism appears to have its roots in very early brain development.

However, the most obvious signs of autism and symptoms of autism tend to emerge between 2 and 3 years of age.

Early diagnosis, intervention and behavioral therapies are cited as critical to improve outcomes.

In an interview this afternoon, Trinidad and Tobago Autistic Society Executive Board Member, Frederick Felix, said the organization has been focusing on increasing the level of awareness of the condition.

Mr Felix said helping citizens learn how to relate with persons with autism is another area attention is placed on.
