A date is yet to be confirmed for the state funeral of former Prime Minister and President, Arthur N.R. Robinson. The nation will however observe five days of mourning
in recognition of the outstanding contribution of Mr. Robinson made locally, regionally and internationally.
National Security Minister Gary Griffith gave this update during this afternoon’s weekly post cabinet news briefing held at the Office of the Prime Minister,
Minister Griffith said the Special Planning Committee formed to finalize details concerning the state funeral has not yet completed its work.
Mr. Robinson passed away on Wednesday at the St Clair Medical Centre. He was 87 years of age.
Minister Griffith indicated the parliament on Wrightson Road, Port of Spain, and the National Academy for the Performing Arts in the Capital City and the Tobago House of Assembly in Scarborough are sites being considered for the body of Mr. Robinson to lie in state.
