Trinidad Cement Limited board back in hot water

NEWS GRAPHIC 11Trinidad Cement Limited has said it intends to appeal a ruling which allows a special meeting of shareholders to convene this evening.

TCL lost its case to block the meeting in a ruling handed down by the High Court yesterday.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Radisson Hotel on Wrightson Road from 5 o’clock.

Shareholders are seeking to have six members of the board removed.

They are Chairman Andy Bhajan, CEO Rollin Bertrand, Bevon Francis, Carlos Hee Houng, Dr. Leonard Nurse and Brian Young.

If the shareholders are succesfull in removing the board members, they have proposed that retired permanent secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Alison Lewis; senior executive of Cable & Wireless, Christ Dehring; businessman Wilfred Espinet; Unit Trust Corporation executive Nigel Edwards; Cemex engineers Francisco Aguilera and Carlos Alberto Palero, and attorney Glenn Hamel-Smith be their replacements.
