A 41-year-old Trinidad and Tobago national wanted in this country for firearm related offences has been extradited from the United Kingdom to face prosecution on the charges. Amoa Howe was returned to Trinidad on Sunday May 10th, under escort by local INTERPOL officers.
The man was initially arrested in Port of Spain on October 6th 2006, jointly charged with three (3) others for possession of firearm and possession of ammunition. He was however granted bail after his first appearance at the Port of Spain Magistrate’s Court but failed to appear in subsequent hearings.
As a result, two warrants were issued for his arrest. Information was subsequently attained by police, who learnt that Mr. Howe had fled to the United Kingdom . After consultations with the UK authorities, the accused was arrested on April 1st and later ordered to be extradited to Trinidad.
Warrants were executed on Mr.Howe on Monday May 11th and he was taken to the Port of Spain Magistrate’s Court.
