The ODPM is today assuring citizens that support relief and recovery efforts continue, to areas impacted by severe weather conditions, which resulted in widespread flooding across the nation.

It stated that the National response mechanism had been activated as of Wednesday 18th October 2017, as calls from the ODPM’s Regional Coordinators were being made to Regional Corporations’ Disaster Management Units.

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Office meanwhile, has issued a Discontinuation of Riverine Flood Alert bulletin # 9 for Trinidad.

Even though showery activity has decreased somewhat, a Tropical Wave is expected to bring more rainfall in 36-48 hours.

In light of this the ODPM says it is liaising closely with the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government to review their operational plans in anticipation of the event.

The ODPM reminds all citizens that if they have been affected by ongoing weather conditions, to please contact the Call Center the ODPM’s Customer Care Centre at 511 or 999 if unsuccessful.
