Government says it is interested in purchasing three vessels from Australian ship building companies.

Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley says two will be fast-ferry vessels while the other will be dedicated to the Coast Guard.

Speaking at the weekly post cabinet news briefing held at the Diplomatic Center, St Ann’s, Dr Rowley said the investment in this area is necessary to avoid the challenges that arose recently with sea transportation between Port-of-Spain and Scarborough.

He added that the vessel for the Coast Guard is needed to ensure the country maintains proper surveillance of its costal borders.

Commenting on the Sandals Tobago Hotel project Dr. Rowley said that Chinese companies have expressed an interest in coming on board, one in particular in the area of air transportation.
