T&T law enforcement trained by the US

by | Sep 5, 2014

Local Police, Immigration and Customs Officers have received training and equipment through the U.S. Government’s Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) program.
According to a release from the US Embassy, fifty participants were taught skills in detecting and analyzing travel documents through the use of lighting and magnification.
This will aid personnel in examining and evaluating key security features in documents and uncover fraud.
The Immigration Division also received ten microscopes valued at US$6,000 for use in their forensic document lab.
The ATA program is an agreement between the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Counterterrorism and the Bureau of Diplomatic Security.
