The group is specifically concerned about recent reports of a witch hunt for a whistleblower in relation to the case at the private healthcare facility.
The group says whistleblower protection should be a fundamental part of a country’s legislation as witness accounts offer invaluable insights into corruption and are powerful tools in the fight against it. As such, the group is calling for the immediate consideration of whistle -blower legislation.
TTTI has defined whistle blowing as the disclosure of information about a perceived wrongdoing in an organisation, or the risk thereof, to individuals or entities believed to be able to effect action. The group is adamant that whistleblowers should be acknowledged and protected, not ostracised, victimized or penalised.
