T&TEC Refutes Claims Made By OWTU.

The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission T&TEC is dismissing claims made by the Oilfield Worker’s Trade Union (OWTU) that employees of the Commission are being starved for materials needed to carry out their duties in order to have external contactors hired to complete jobs.

A media release issued by T&TEC stated the materials are disbursed to its five Distribution Areas from a central warehouse, yet only it’s East Distribution Area has complained of being impacted by material shortages.

The Commission say, what may appear to be a shortage stems from the fact that workers are being encouraged to retain materials which are reusable during routine maintenance. This measure was implemented in an effort to manage materials and reduce wastage.

T&TEC maintains that the commission continues to work with the Union in solving challenges as amicably as possible.

Customers are assured that their quality of service will not be affect.
