T&TEC Woodbrook substation explosion

A week after equipment caught fire on the ground floor of the T&TEC Woodbrook substation in North Trinidad adjacent to the Powergen facility.

Workers have expressed concern that the fumes and suppression gas used to extinguish the blaze left behind asbestos and noxious fumes.

They say that this has made the workplace dangerous to their health.

PowerGen1Oilfield Workers Trade Union Branch President for T&TEC Peter Burke said in an interview this morning that not enough was being done to deal with the issue.
