TTPS – “Sex Education in Schools is critical”

TTPS – “Sex Education in Schools is critical”

Margaret Sampson BrownTrinidad and Tobago Police Service, Victim and Witness Support Unit Manager Margaret Sampson Brown made the impassioned statement while speaking on The Power Breakfast show this morning.

She shared that when children are exposed to lectures on Sexual Education, they come forward afterward to notify that they have experienced abuse.

Giving the example of a 16 year old girl who has been sexually abused by her father since the age of two, Sampson Brown noted that the young lady was under the impression that her situation was a normal father daughter relationship.

She went on to state that sex education in schools is critical to educate children that parenting means “X and Y” and does not mean “Z and X”.

Sampson Brown also made a call for the perpetrator in the child abuse video that recently went viral on local facebook, to turn himself in to the police and give his side of the story.
