Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association Second Vice President, Kyrla Robinson Thomas, says gang culture has become a major issue at schools and is affecting students and their behavior.

She says violence at schools has become a serious problem because of several contributors, including what she says is the presence of gang influence in schools.

The senior TTUTA official told News Power Now that young ones have materialistic goals and unfortunately because of negative influences they are unwilling to attain these them in the proper way.

She also articulated the issue of students who are placed in academic programs in school who are not well suited for them.
