TTUTA reacts to education budget allocation

Davanand SinananEducation and Skills Training has received just over $10 billion in the 2014/2015 financial year.
The allocation has been welcomed by the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association (TTUTA).

However, TTUTA’s President Devanand Sinanand said his organisation is concerned with where spending is prioritized, since a number of the nation’s schools are in a deplorable condition.

 

Mr. Sinanand touched on the school dropout statitistics and said that more money should be given to the Ministry of Education ensure that adequate resources are provided to meet students’ needs.

 

Government has also proposed that laptop program be upgraded to ensure that all Secondary School students receive laptop computers.

Mr. Sinanand questioned whether or not any research studies were done into the program.
