The Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association strongly feels government is distorting what the trade unions are saying.

It was last Thursday at the post cabinet briefing Finance Minister, Winston Dookeran, said it was imperative that the best compensation package be found for workers in the public sector.

However, he was quick to say, that it must also be balanced with what was good for the entire country

Speaking in an interview with Newspower authority, TTUTA General Secretary, Peter Wilson,  said  they never moved away from the bargaining table.

Mr. Wilson is of the view the economy can afford more than the contentious five percent.
