Two out of three men charged with the shooting death of a man near a St Augustine nightclub in 2005, have been sentenced to hang after being found guilty before a 12-member jury in the Port of Spain Assizes.
The three men, Elroy Campbell, his brother, Glenroy Campbell and Rodney Antoine were before Justice Devan Rampersad and a 12-member jury charged with the shooting death of Unemployment Relief Programme (URP) foreman, Nixon “Pudding” Smith on the night of October 3, 2005.
The Campbell brothers were found guilty and were sentenced to hang, but the jury was unable to arrive at a clear verdict with regard to Antoine.
Justice Rampersad ordered a re-trial in his case.
All three accused refused to testify in this trial but maintained they were innocent.
