On Thursday night as the People’s National Movement attempted to host its Siparia leg of their Local Government Campaign rally, they were unexpectedly disturbed by the Opposition.

Word today that UNC faithfuls engaged in a motorcade, led by their party leader, Kamla Persad Bissessar, were forced to tone down their effects and pass on by. The UNC activists have since claimed victimization and threats by police officers.

The PNM meeting had been taking place at the Thick Village Community Centre. It is reported that UNC supporters chanted “Rowley Must Go” as they passed by the Community Centre. Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, who had been speaking at the time, was unmoved.
