Union Leaders Defend Decision to Meet With Political Parties Ahead of General Elections

The Joint Trade Union Movement is making it clear that there is nothing shady or questionable surrounding its recent meetings with various political parties to discuss matters on the workers agenda.

Education and Research Officers of the Oilfield Workers Trade Union, Ozzie Warwick, speaking on the Election Hard Talk programme on Power 102.1FM this afternoon said the labor movement will  advance its right to pursue issues relating to industrial relations as well as issues relative to transforming society.

Mr. Warwick said with the election fever on the verge of heating up, the labour movement felt it vital to get feedback from key political organizations ahead of the poll.

Meanwhile, Banking Insurance and General Workers Union, President General, Vincent Cabrera, who also spoke on the programme insisted that the process was carefully entered into .
