There is a proposal for farmers and domestic workers to be given the opportunity to contribute to the National Insurance Board and benefit from a pension.
The recommendation was made by the National Union of Domestic Employees and the Agricultural Society of Trinidad and Tobago.
It came during a recent sitting a Joint Select Committee on Finance and Legal Affairs.
During the deliberations, General Secretary of the N.U.D.E, Ida Le Blanc, said the suggestion, if implemented, will help domestic employees secure financial benefits when they reach the age of retirement.
Meanwhile, President of the Agricultural Society of Trinidad and Tobago, Dhano Sookoo, also requested that farmers to be compensated.
