Used car dealers give Government solution to reduce the fuel subsidy

NEWS GRAPHIC 5The Used Car Dealers Association has offered a Government a solution for removing the fuel subsidy.

Association President Visham Babwah has advised the state that Hybrid and Electric Powered vehicles are the best alternatives.

In last year’s budget Finance and Economy Minister Larry Howai proposed that the fuel subsidy be gradually reduced.

The price of premium gasoline was raised from $4 to $5.75.

Government hoped that it would have brought in $100 million. Despite the increase, only $69.2 million was netted.
