UWI ELECTION BACCHANAL

Guild LogoUniversity of the West Indies Guild Vice President, Ronald Francis said he could not confirm any unrest or protest at the school following yesterday’s Student Guild Elections.

Students reportedly demonstrated after word spread that the Returning Officer suspended the ballot counting process after the eligibility of several candidates were raised.

Some students blocked the campus security from removing the ballot boxes after word spread of development.

 
Speaking with our Newsroom, Mr. Francis said he was not on the compound when the alleged events took place.

He however confirmed that there were discrepancies in regards to the elections and so the process was stopped.

Mr. Francis who is also a candidate for President of the Guild was called to a meeting with other candidates where the discrepancies were discussed.
