The University of the West Indies St. Augustine Guild of Students is calling on the Administration and Non-Academic Staff of the University to come to an amicable resolution as it pertains to the ongoing salary negotiations.
Via media release the Guild says it is not taking sides on the matter but wishes to highlight the fact that the protest action taken by the Non-Academic staff has had negative effects on the student population which the Guild represents.
The guild says students have been forced to endure a stalled shuttle service, poor sanitation and the limited provision of technical equipment for classes.
Explaining that students are currently preparing for examinations, the Guild added that this matter
could have adverse effects on the physical and mental well being of the University’s stakeholders- its students.
Additionally, the Guild has highlighted that the ongoing impasse is cause for concern as students are now at risk of being victims of security breaches outside of the campus, due to the unavailability of the student shuttle service.
The Guild is today calling on both entities to let good sense prevail.
