A University of the West Indies Professor believes that a greater awareness of the struggles of those who paved the way for the country’s independence and elections can bring about a positive change in people’s attitude towards voting.
It’s a point underscored by Professor Brinsley Samaroo. He had been speaking on Power 102.1fm on Tuesday afternoon during a programme hosted by Errol Pilgrim which focused on election history.
Professor Samaroo said a consciousness of the challenges faced by the nation’s pioneers can result in more persons exercising their fundamental right to vote for the political party of their choice.
Professor Samaroo also cited a laid back approach to life in the country as another factor that might influence people’s attitude toward politics.
