UWI students affected by Immigration industrial action

by | Oct 15, 2014

UWI_logoThe Guild of Students of the University of the West Indies St. Augustine has said that students are suffering due to the industrial action taken by the workers of the Immigration Offices in Trinidad & Tobago.

In a media release the organization stated that regional and international students are currently living without a sense of security as it pertains to their immigration status.

It said that students have been left without any means of legally extending their length of stay within the country.

The Guild Council is appealing to all relevant stakeholders to assist in rectifying this situation and returning a level of calm to international students.

The Council is also calling on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Winston Dookeran, Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, Fazal Karim and Minister of National Security Gary Griffith to intervene.
