There is an assurance by Finance Minister , Larry Howai , that positions left vacant on the First Citizens Bank’s Board will soon be filled.
At the FCB’s Annual General Meeting held on Monday, four board members including Chairman Nyree Alfonso and directors Rishi Baddaloo, Shobee Jacelon and Marlene Juman were relieved of their positions.
The initial public offering of shares in FCB was a hot topic earlier this year after concerns were raised by the Banking Insurance and General Workers Union following the purchase of thousands of shares by a senior banking official who was later fired.
Speaking with reporters at the Hyatt Regency in Port of Spain on Tuesday, Minister Howai said the latest development must not be viewed as action taken for wrong doing. He also indicated that steps are being taken to fill the vacant positions. The minister public offering of shares, claiming it was a success.
