Veteran Calypsonion Dr Andrew Marcano, Brother Superior has died at the age of 82.

Marcano, who had been battling illnesses for some time, died at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York on Saturday.

Brother Superior is the third calypso great to have died in recent months, following Winston Bailey the Shadow and Winston Scarborough D Original De Fosto Himself.

Former CEO of Radio Vision Limited, Lennox Toussaint spoke on the life and legacy of Brother Superior.

He said Brother Superior, or Supie as he was fondly called, will always be remembered for his persistence in promoting culture and calypso.

Mr Toussaint expressed his hope that Brother Superior’s memory would be suitably honoured.


Meanwhile, Head of Trinidad Unified Calypso Organisation (TUCO) Lutalo Massimba ‘Brother Resistance’, said his departure from this world was distressing and a serious blow to everyone who knew and loved him.

He described him as the ultimate calypsonian

He said that Brother Superior was a man who used his vast talent to support the calypso art form.
