Victims of the explosion at the El Pecos Restaurant Maraval yesterday are all at hospital receiving priority care, this, according to a release issued by Government last evening.
The release also indicated that immediately following the explosion National Security Minister, Brigadier General Carl Alfonso, and Health Minister, Dr Fuad Khan, visited the scene to render assistance.
The Ministers were given a mandate from the Honourable Prime Minister to give any and all assistance required to protect the safety of workers and people in the vicinity of the restaurant.
The Health Minister immediately contacted the Port of Spain General Hospital asking that priority care be given to the 13 victims of the blast.
The release also stated that a transport vehicle which was delivering liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to the restaurant was the source of the blast.
With reference to the cause of the blast, an advisory issued by RAMCO revealed that they received several inquiries about whether or not any of their RAMCO gas delivery vehicles were involved.
The Organisation advised that no RAMCO delivery vehicle was present at the time or involved in the unfortunate incident.
The advisory concluded by saying that RAMCO joined the rest of the nation in praying for those affected by this event.
