Visa requirement maybe removed for Chinese travellers to T&T

PM CHINESEPrime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has said Government is considering the possibility of allowing Chinese citizens the opportunity to visit this country without visas.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar made the statements while speaking at a dinner held in honor of 40 years of diplomatic relations between China and Trinidad and Tobago, as well as in the visit to Trinidad by Chinese Deputy Minister for the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, He Yafei.

Mrs. Persad-Bissessar said the Chinese government raised concerns about the difficulties its citizens have when acquiring a Trinidad and Tobago visa. To address this she said the option to allow Chinese travellers who have already qualified for United States visas or otherwise, to be exempt.

She added this will be considered in the interim as a filtering process pending the elimination of visa requirements.
