WASA Gives Assurance to Customers of East Trinidad Following Shut Down

by | Apr 13, 2015

North Oropouche Water Treatment PlantWednesday evening is the timeline given by the Water and Sewage Authority for the resumption of a normal supply of water to several areas in East Trinidad.

WASA officials explained that on Saturday evening a transformer at the North Oropouche Water Treatment Plant was damaged after a snake crawled upon a transformer- a situation that led to a fire.

A shutdown of the plant subsequently resulted, and many customers from Five Rivers, Arouca to Sangre-Grande in East Trinidad have since been affected.

WASA’S Director of Customer Care, Doodnath Bhola, in a News Power Now interview this afternoon said progress is being made relative to efforts in correcting the problem.
