The Oilfields Workers Trade Union is claiming victory in the court following news that the attempt by attorney Wayne Sturge to file an injunction to stop the sale of the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery to the Oilfields Workers Trade Union has been called off.
Members of the union gathered outside the Hall of Justice in Port- of- Spain to protest the move.
However, News Power understands that Mr Sturge, a former UNC Senator, has decided against taking such action.
The Union’s Chief Education and Research Officer Ozzie Warwick, spoke with reporters on the scene.
However, observers say given the manner in which the action was withdrawn, and the fact that the matter is to be the subject of a hearing at the Joint Select Committee in the parliament, no one gets to claim victory in this instance.
