The Minister of Social Development and family services is today refuting claims that the food card has been taken away from over thirteen thousand people in this country.
Speaking in the parliament today, Minister Cherrie-Ann Chriclow- Cockburn said an audit was done and it was decided that all eligible recipients would be enrolled using biometric system.
However she said over thirteen thousand such people never came in to facilitate the process.
The Minister also told the parliament of many irregularities which took place in the food card programme.
She said action has since been taken to correct the deficiencies.
