The impasse between Woodbrook residents and the Port- of -Spain City Corporation over residents being issued tickets by litter wardens for putting their bags of garbage at the side of the road for collection has come to a tame end.
While some of the residents paid the fine, several others who refused to give in, appeared in court to challenge the matter yesterday.
When the matter was called in court, the attorneys for the City Corporation withdrew the matter. Woodbrook resident Kingsley Hinkson says the Corporation has no case as it is yet to outline a policy regarding garbage collection in the area and until then, residents will continue to place their garbage on the roadside for collection as is the norm.
Mr. Hinkson says if the City Corporation chooses to issue fines again without a policy in place, the residents will continue to challenge the matter in court.
