Min Jack WarnerWorks and Infrastructure Minister, Jack Warner, is expressing concern about improper practices allegedly being undertaken by contractors involved in road works.

This came following a tour of Trinidad Lake Asphalt in La Brea on Monday. It was revealed that there were incidents of stealing asphalt, the Minister questioned whether the situation was similar to that of the recent diesel racket.

The Minister was also told of other alleged rackets such as reports of bitumen bought but remaining unused for the contracted work, as well as tampered samples passed off as Trinidad Lake Asphalt material.

However Minister Warner said he would like to hear the contrators’ side of the story before he makes a decision…

Minister Warner expressed concern that these schemes may have adverse effects on current road works, particularly for the planned Point Fortin Highway.
